The purpose of The Body Issue is to display the body as a subject to explore, as art, as the core of our identity (arguably), as a source of confidence and attention, and as the vessel through which we do, feel, create, and exist. We delved into the idea of The Body with the submissions we received for this issue (poetry, fiction, nonfiction, etc.) and used nude and semi-nude photographs to complement your work as writers. This is our experiment in social change. Our distribution of The Body Issue will be solely by sale, to raise funds for the National Eating Disorder Association.
DA FINE PRINT, YO:
Each model signed a consent form before their shoots, stating that they are at least 18, that they wished to pose, and that they give Overkill the rights to use their images in the eighth issue of our publication. The issue will not be available online. The Body Issue is meant for the Allegheny community, although we do not object if students share them with friends and family, o’course. SPEAK, Overkill Magazine, Allegheny Student Government, and Allegheny College, and all affiliates of these organizations are not responsible for unknown, future circulation of The Body Issue, nor do we endorse such circulation. In addition to selling the issues for NEDA, we are also taking donations. Find us if you’re feeling generous.
